Set up installment payments for training fees

Learn how you can offer monthly installment payments for training fees in Hoopit for entire events, teams, or individual athletes 💳

You can enable installment payments for training fees for an entire event, a single team, or selected athletes. When the feature is enabled, the athlete can choose whether to pay the full amount at once – or split it into monthly installments.

When choosing installment payments, the amount is automatically deducted each month until the full sum is paid. The number of installments is calculated automatically based on the training fee's validity period, unless you choose a shorter payment period when enabling it. You can see how it will look for users here.

1. Set up for everyone

In step 3 of creation, you can choose to turn on "Allow installments". It will then be available for all teams.

2. Set up for a team

If you only want to allow installment payments for certain teams, you can create the training fee with the setting off and then edit it for individual teams. You go into the event under Training fees and click into the team you want to change and press Edit.

3. Set up for a member

To offer installment payments for a single member, you can find the option to turn it on in the payment edit page.

4. Overview and status

You can follow a member's status on the payment request page. You can also cancel the installment plan if you want to edit or waive the claim.

Can you change the deduction date?

Yes, the person who set up the payment plan can easily change the deduction date in Hoopit under "Active installment plans"

What happens if there are insufficient funds in the account, or if it fails for other reasons?

If an automatic deduction attempt fails, we will notify the user and attempt to deduct the amount two more times. If all attempts fail, the claim becomes visible again to the user, so they can pay the full amount or set up a new installment plan.

Why is there a fee for installment payments?

To cover the costs associated with handling installment payments, a fee of 7 NOK per installment is charged. This fee is paid by the person who set up the installment plan.

The member is leaving and will either pay the full amount or should be waived from the remaining balance. How do you proceed?

To edit the outstanding amount, you must first cancel the installment plan. Then you can either edit the amount or waive the member from the remaining balance.

What happens when an installment plan is "cancelled"?

The claim is then republished in the app so the member can set up a new payment plan or pay the full amount directly.
